Put On A Show

Bring your work to Theatre 118. Four spaces, one simple pitch form, and a team that's on your side.

We're on the artist's side. Whether this is your first show or your fiftieth, Theatre 118 exists to give Glasgow's grassroots artists somewhere to make and share work. Tell us what you'd like to put on, and we'll talk.

The Spaces

Four distinct rooms that let shows grow with their audience — from an intimate scratch in the Lab up to a run in the Main House.

The Lab

The Lab

30 seats • Flexible

Our smallest room and the best place to try something new. Ideal for scratch nights, solo shows, work-in-progress, and one-off experiments. Low stakes, high energy.

Ground Floor

Ground Floor

55 seats • End-on or cabaret

A bigger room for a confident short run. Suits cabaret, stand-up, one-act plays and double-bills. Great sightlines, warm atmosphere, fits a proper audience without feeling empty.

Upstairs

Upstairs

80 seats • Raked seating

A proper studio theatre with raked seating, full lighting rig, and a get-in that makes sense. The right room for a short run of a polished piece that's found its audience.

Main House
118 Artistic Programme

Main House

140 seats • Fully equipped

Not open for general hire — the Main House is for shows that have worked their way up through our other rooms, or for co-productions with our artistic team. Get in touch if you think you've got something for it.

Why it works this way

We've learned the hard way that putting a new show straight into a 140-seat room usually ends with an empty room and a crushed company. So we don't do that anymore.

We ask every show to aim for a 60% sell-through in whatever space it lands in. Hit that, and the next time you come to us we'll be talking about the room above. It's honest, it's achievable, and it gives your show a real shot at finding its crowd.

The result: shows grow, companies build audiences over time, and nobody ends up performing to three people and a pigeon.

FAQ

We operate a 70/30 split — 70% of ticket income goes to the company, 30% to Theatre 118 to cover front-of-house, technical support, and keeping the lights on. There's no up-front hire fee for shows we programme.
We ask every show to aim for 60% of seats sold across its run. It's a realistic, honest target that protects companies from performing to empty rooms. Hit it and the next time you come to us we'll talk about a bigger room.
Yes — every show gets a listing on our website, goes out in our newsletter to our mailing list, and we'll help with social posts and press when we can. The more legwork you're willing to do yourself, the better it'll do.
All rooms have basic stage lighting, PA, and projection capability. The Upstairs studio has a full lighting rig and sound desk. If your show needs something specific, tell us in the form and we'll work out what's possible.
For shows we programme, no. For private hires (rehearsals, workshops, non-ticketed events) we charge a small hourly rate — get in touch directly and we'll send a rate card.
